Travellers Rest Beginners Tips

Travellers Rest is a game simulation about managing a tavern from building, farming, cooking and brewing your own beverage to serve your local customers. The game uses pixel and is in early access with ongoing development, currently on winter sale in Steam.

Another day in my tavern (Travellers Rest) Played travellers Rest during the Christmas holidays Here’s my tips for starters:

1. At the start of the game don’t try to craft any equipment yet, just follow your quest (press H) and you will be rewarded with the necessary tools and eqipment to progress.

2. Farm, during your free time (when your tavern is close) create a farm as wide as you want, all the equipments and crafts are availble in the mailbox store but not every food ingredient is availble, so you really need to grow them if you want them, my personal favorites are the chilli and the pumpkin, they add more price to the food you sell.

3. Unlocking parts of the tavern and skill is based on your reputation or level, this is given by customers who are satisfied with the service and can be enhanced by using decor that adds “comfort” however there are customers or npc that just want to destroy you, that’s why if you hear the squeeking sound it means there’s a customer complaining inside your tavern. You need to confront these customer or else they will spread negative vibes all over the place influencing other customers to a negative review. After confrontation, if the customer didn’t pipe down do the unorthodox way of “discipline” in your hotkey pick your broom and beat that customer like a wild turkey!!!

4. When you unlock your crafting room behind your tavern and the second floor at reputation 8, it will allow you to customize expansion of floors and rooms and allow you to assign “zones” then you can merge the kitchen with your own sleeping room and make it the only crafting zone to save space, while on the second floor, the game will give you a mini tutorial to create two rooms, one room is for rent and the other is another crafting room, what i did is I turned the 2nd floor crafting room into a rented room by removing the crafting zone, I changed the door to rented doors and bought the bed, table, chair and some candles.

5. When you have maximized your dining space and earning decent amount of gold you can now hire some staff, but be sure to open the tavern early because your staff will start charging you once they appear in your tavern (6am) make sure you already have food in the menu and kegs filled with beer. Then you go and roam around and explore the area or get some coal and wood. Just be mindful that the squeeking sound means an angry or drunk customer is ready to spread negative review about you and the bar tender cannot serve peaople that wants to rent your inn.

More Tips:

1. Stock on wood and coal, you will use the wood later on your tavern expansion and rented room creation, while coal is the main fuel of every equipment on the game. I know there are plenty of wood from the start but it will become less, since you can also buy it in order mailbox

2. If you are low on wood and want to save some fire wood and candles open your tavern early in the morning and close at 6pm this way you won’t be needing candles or using the fireplace, do your other chores at night like farming, brewing, cooking, gathering and exploring

3. If you expanded your tavern and noticed that there are no people sitting or dining at some parts of your new expanded area this means that you haven’t expanded your tavern dining zone yet, you can determine this when you press “B” and see the red broken lines, to expand this go to your construction table and press “Q” go to zones and choose dining zone then go expand the red broken lines, same process for other zones

4. If your cat is not moving and mad all the time maybe its because you haven’t pet it for a while, you didn’t put some water on its bowl or its sleeping place or bed is included in the dining zone.

5. last but not the least don’t put items or resources in the barrel outside your tavern, it is not part of your inventory, it’s a trash can your items will be lost the next day.(not sure if you get paid)

And for the Christmas event find Ace the snowman south of the map, he will teach you how to hunt turkeys and give you Christmas Recipes that you can sell for coupons and exchange it with goodies from Ace himself, I spent most of my coupons for golden candles, it’s really useful inside your shop and can save you some silver.
